Mandate and current activities:
The KCMC provides male singers the opportunity to develop vocal skills and musical literacy, in a non-judgemental and friendly atmosphere, while preparing a diverse range of choral repertoire for performance. Rehearsals focus on strengthening vocal production, part singing and ear training skills, as well as mastering a steady stream of challenging repertoire created to exploit the unique characteristics of an all-male chorus.
The choir performs one major concert per season, often with a musical guest whose specialty will provide both an educative opportunity for the choristers and a rewarding concert experience for the audience. The choir also performs small benefit concerts for local charities and clubs/organizations. KCMC has performed benefit concerts for Hospice Kingston, Cooke’s – Portsmouth United Church, The University Women’s Club, Sydenham United Church in Sydenham , Ontario, and as part of its community outreach program has performed in Rideaucrest, St. Lawrence Place, Trillium Ridge and Briargate retirement homes.
The KCMC performs a wide range of musical repertoire with expression, accuracy, and a good ensemble sound with a strong sense of joy in singing together.
