Mandate and Current Activities
The Kingston Capital Men’s Chorus embraces a broad repertoire, always aiming for a good ensemble sound that is expressed with accuracy and a strong sense of joy.
The choir provides the opportunity to develop vocal skills and musical literacy, in a non-judgmental and friendly atmosphere, while preparing a diverse range of choral repertoire for performance. Rehearsals focus on strengthening vocal production, part singing and ear training skills, as well as mastering a steady stream of challenging repertoire created to exploit the unique characteristics of an all-male chorus.
Although the choir performs only one major concert per season, it also engages in small benefit concerts for local charities and organizations. In the past, beneficiaries have included Hospice Kingston, The University Women’s Club, St Thomas' Anglican Church and St John’s Presbyterian Church. In addition to these efforts, as part of our Community Outreach Program, we have performed in a number of retirement homes, including St. Lawrence Place, Briargate and Kingsdale Chateau.
